The model Belcanto is characterised by its immensely dynamic variety and a quick response, for any tone expression. The basses are tight and sonorous. They form a lasting basis. The centres hold a warm timbre, while the highs glimmer silvery-fine. The sustain is especially long and even.
I further developed the Belforte on the basis of the Belcanto. Thanks to the even more dynamic variety and the precise setting-in of the tone, the Belforte is especially suitable for ensembles and solos, even in great halls. The fundamental basses develop a balanced and transparent sound picture together with the warm centres and the clear descant. The Belforte – a significant instrument!
A silvery descant, a middle range which is nice and warm, as well as a full, rich foundational bass quantity: those are all qualities which distinguish the "Belbasso". Added to that is the wealth of overtones, a property only reached and shared by plucked multi-stringed instruments. With this, the guitarist can play music written for the lute, without having to alter his own technique.
